Sex is commonly used as an indicator of a relationship, but it becomes less common the longer a marriage goes on. Couples should cuddle before bed and connect deeply on an emotional and physical level. One study found that sleeping with a partner leads to comfort, joy, love, connection, appreciation and happiness for the vast majority of people. Lowering blood pressure, strengthening the immune system, and reducing inflammation are some of the physical benefits. Emotionally, sharing a bed with someone results in lower anxiety, a sense of security, better sleep, and greater contentment. When we have physical contact with another human being, our levels of oxytocin increase. Hence, the chemical is released and you feel peaceful and safe when you jump into bed and spoon with your honey or take it to the next level of intimacy. If there are no health problems, having sex at least once a week is optimal if you are under 50. When a relationship is in jeopardy, the first thing to disappear is the sex. Sleeping apart in the home is another sex-related difficulty, whether it’s because there is a child in the bed or one of the couples snores. The bed is the family nest and both parents belong in it. A child belongs in it occasionally, but there is only one true nest in the house, and both parents, if not in it nightly, better do what it takes to get back in there together. There is no other place where we spend more time together in a marriage. There are magical animalistic things that occur in there while we are sleeping. Throw a leg over while you are at it. Hold hands. Get your cuddle on. You may get lucky when you least expect it.
